More than 50% of French 18–25 year olds are interested in cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens
According to current research, young people in France have a high level of interest in digital assets and non-fungible tokens (NFT). Many young French people are interested in cryptocurrencies
Heaven, an advertising agency in Paris, conducted a study to determine the level of French involvement in digital assets. Thus, the agency interviewed 538 young people aged 18 to 25.
Among the discoveries was that the vast majority of young people are well acquainted with cryptocurrencies. According to the survey, 67% of respondents know what cryptocurrency is, and about 45% of young people are familiar with the topic of non-fungible tokens (NFT). Also, 34% of respondents are interested in the meta world. Among the less common topics are also some familiarity with the topics of blockchain — 22%, Web3–10%, and DAO — 9%. It should also be added that the majority of interested respondents, that is nearly 87%, are still men.
About 32% of young people have savings in cryptocurrencies
According to surveys of young people aged 18 to 25, about 32% have cryptocurrencies. However, if we talk about the total population of France, we can note a tendency to decrease by 8% according to a study by Adan / KPMG. Also, the French marketing agency Heaven notes that 34% of respondents say they are interested in investing in cryptocurrencies. After all, the fact is that “only 1 third of respondents are not inclined to cryptocurrencies.”
Among the most common motivations for deposits in cryptocurrencies are the accumulation of savings — 52%; use of the advantage in price growth — 44%; diversification of savings — 22%; obtaining more confidential financial resources — 21%; transfer of funds abroad — 13%.
Youth in France are interested in NFT
According to surveys, about 49% of young people want to save on NFT. It is also worth noting that only 4% of respondents have certified tokens that are registered on the blockchain. Despite high demand, 45% of respondents are not interested in non-fungible tokens (NFT).
In addition, a large number of respondents mostly associate non-fungible tokens with digital illustrations (51%) or with objects or characters from video games (50%). Video games in this context are the most common way to engage in digital assets. Heaven claims that “many people took refuge in video games while sitting at home.” So many young people said that they most often play Fortnite (52%) and Roblox (24%).
Despite significant knowledge of cryptocurrencies and NFT, only 22% of young people are interested in virtual reality. However, 56% of respondents expressed a desire to start using the meta world, while 21% of respondents are not interested in this area.
According to a survey conducted last year by the British global public opinion and data company YouGov, 51% of young people in France do not mind trying to shop in virtual reality. They are also interested in attending shows — 51%, music events — 43% and communicating with other people — 42%. This study once again confirms the data of the Heaven survey on the interest of young people in the meta-universe.

Despite significant interest in digital assets, Web3 is not in high demand among young people. According to a study by the American investment bank Piper Sandler, after surveying 7,100 people, only 9% of American 16-year-olds want to buy virtual reality equipment. It should also be added that 26% of young people already have such a headset, but only 5% use the equipment every day. Although 68% of respondents consider themselves gamers, 48% rarely use headphones.
